GHS implementation status in Philippines

The Department of Labor and Employment issued on 28 February 2014 the "Guidelines for the implementation of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) in chemical safety program in the workplace" (Department order No.136-14). The guidelines apply to all workplaces engaged in the manufacture, use, storage of industrial chemicals, in the private sector, including their supply chain.

Classification:

There is no proper classification standard of the dangerous goods in Philippines. So in Philippines it is classified according to the newest GHS, the 5th version.

Label and SDS:

The language on the labels and SDS should be in English.

In Philippines, the DOLE has no specific laws and regulations to the labels and SDS. It refers to the 5th version of the GHS, too.
