Some key terms in GHS

There will be some abbreviations in the global uniform system, such as: CAS, EC50, LC50, etc., many people do not know its full name and do not understand its meaning, the following is a list of some common abbreviations to explain:

 

ADR:European Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road.

BCF:Biocon Centration Factor.

CAS:Chemical Abstracts Service.

Chemical name: A name used specifically to identify a chemical. This name may be a name that complies with the naming system of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) or the Society of Chemical Abstracts, or it may be a technical name.

EC:50:Median Effective Concentration

EC number or (ECN) : A reference number used by the European Community to identify hazardous substances, in particular those registered under the European List of Commercial Substances in Existence.

ECx: refers to the concentration of x% to produce a reaction.

LC50: The concentration of a chemical in air or water that causes 50%(half) of the death of a group of test animals.

LD50: refers to the amount of chemical that causes 50%(half) of the death of a group of test animals after a single application.

NOEC: The test concentration is just below the lowest measured concentration to produce a statistically significant harmful effect. NOEC did not produce statistically significant harmful effects compared to the control group

Technical name: A name commonly used in commerce, regulations, and regulations to identify a substance or mixture that is not a name of the International Federation of Chemical Abstracts, but is recognized by the scientific community.Names used for complex mixtures (such as petroleum distillates or natural products), pesticides (such as ISO or the American National Standards Institute system), dyes (color index system), and minerals are all technical names
