Test per SAE for Warning Lamps

DOT does not have a compliance registration program for warning lamps, they are not regulated by DOT/NHTSA. Warning lamps are regulated on the State level, such as California, Florida, etc. Therefor, the warning lamps can not apply for DOT, but it can be tested according to SAE  standard.

Q: How about the testing items?

A: SAE  J595  CLASS 1
     SAE  J845  CLASS 1
     SAE  J845  CLASS 2

Q: How about the cost ?

A: The cost to test a two color lightbar (typically red and blue) would be $3000.

    The cost to test lightbars with three color options (typically amber, red and blue) would be $3500.

    The cost to test lightbars with four color options (white, amber, red and blue) would be $4000.

Q: How about the requirement for samples?

A: Need one full size lightbar which would be used for environmental and mechanical tests, need a smallest size lightbar with half/half color options (such as red/blue or amber/white).

Q: How about the time period taken to complete all the testing?

A: About 3 weeks.
