2005/84/EC PhthlateTesting
Phthalates, which is a widely used plasticizer has modification or softening effects of plastic, is prevalent in plastics and paints. Among them, there are 15 kinds of phthalates considered as hazardous substances which have been restricted.
The following materials generally contain phthalates:
1. PVC plastic and related polymers, such as PVDC and PVA;
2. soft plastic, except polyolefin;
3. soft rubber, except silicone rubber and natural rubber;
4. the foam rubber or plastics, such as PU
5. the surface coating, slip coating, polishes, enamels and the printed pattern;
6. elastic material on clothing, pajamas, etc;
7. adhesives and sealants;
8. the electrical insulating material.
EU 2005/84/EC stipulates that:

Bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate(DEHP)
Dibutyl phthalate(DBP)
Benzyl butyl phthalate(BBP)

Shall not be used as substances or as
constituents of preparations, at concentrations
of greater than 0,1% by mass of the plasticized
material, in toys and childcare articles.
Such toys and childcare articles containing the sephthalates in a concentration greater than the limit mentioned above shall not be placed on the market.

di-“isononyl” phthalate(DINP)
di-“isodecyl” phthalate(DIDP)
di-n-octylphthalate(DNOP)

Shall not be used as substances or as constituents of preparations, at concentrations of greater than 0,1% by mass of the plasticized material, in toys and child care articles which can be placed in the mouth by children.
Such toys and childcare articles containing the sephthalates in a concentration greater than the limit mentioned above shall not be placed on the market.
