GHS Category - Flammable Solids

GHS Definition:

Flammable solids refer to solids that are easily combustible or may cause or support combustion through friction.

A readily combustible solid is a powder, granular or pasty substance that can burn if it comes into short contact with an ignition source, such as a burning match, and can be dangerous if the fire spreads rapidly.

Burn rate test:

Substances or mixtures other than metallic powders:

(a) the wet parts are not flame retardant, and

(b) Burn time < 45 seconds or burn rate > 2.2 mm/s

Metal powder: burning time ≤ 5 minutes

Burn rate test:

Substances or mixtures other than metallic powders:

(a) the wet part can be flame retardant for at least 4 minutes; and

(b) Burn time < 45 seconds or burn rate > 2.2 mm/s

Metal powder: burning time > 5 minutes and ≤ 10 minutes
